We had a nice trip last Sunday 23rd October to Emirates Palace Hotel. I went with my class and listened to the GCC that talked about financial and economic things.

The first period was from 9:30 to 11:00 am. They explained the international experiences for six countries, Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abdul Aziz Aluwaisheg was the speaker and he talked for about fifteen minutes. He talked about general international economic relations in the GCC. He talked in English and Arabic; also we had some translation tools. Also he talked about development and improvement in the previous years by GCC countries.

The second speaker was Lukas Stemitsiotis; he talked about  European finance and some problems and tried to solve them.

The third speaker was Dr Aladdin Rillo, Chief Economist ASEAN. He talked about the experience of South East Asian nations. He showed the difference between Europe and the GCC and ASEAN GDP. He pointed out that the goal in his region was integration of capital markets.

The conference ended with an open discussion and conversation to see if the people had ideas. I suggest our people should visit this nice big palace and see what is inside the palace. I saw some archaeological items from different countries such as Egypt, Greece and Rome.

Princess Diana

Diana, Princess of Wales, formerly Lady Diana Frances Spencer, was born on 1 July 1961 at Park House near Sandringham, Norfolk. Her romance with the Prince of Wales began in 1980 and they got married July 29, 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. Diana was the first English woman to marry an heir to the throne in over 300 years. But Diana soon discovered that Prince Charles was still in love with an old girlfriend, Camilla Parker-Bowles. Distraught, Diana developed bulimia and attempted suicide. Despite her problems, she was a devoted mother to her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She worked tirelessly for charity, and was beloved by the public for her warmth and humanity.

In 1992 Princess Diana decided to expose the truth about her relationship with Prince Charles to the public. The separation of the Prince and Princess of Wales was announced on December 9, 1992. The divorce became official August 28, 1996. Princess Diana kept the title Princess of Wales and continued to work for her favorite charities. She and Prince Charles had joint custody of their sons. In 1997 Princess Diana began a love affair with Emad "Dodi" Fayed, the son of billionaire businessman Mohamed Al-Fayed. Their romance ended abruptly on August 31, 1997 when both were killed in a car accident in Paris while fleeing from paparazzi. Princess Diana's sudden death led to an unprecedented worldwide outpouring of grief and love.

Hedley's Trip To The Niah Caves

Thirty years ago, Hedley, accompanied by his wife Mary and his elder daughter Kate, travelled from Brunei to the Niah Caves in Sarawak, Malaysia.
They set out early in the morning from Bandar Seri Begawan and they drove the car to the border of Sarawak. When they reached there they crossed the river by the ferry so that they could continue their trip to the caves. They stopped for lunch then they carried on their way. Then they took a boat up the river and sailed to the rest house and stayed there for the night after they had their dinner with the people who were living there too. They shared food and drinks with them and they went to sleep.
The next day, they walked in the jungle for 30 minutes until they reached the caves. When they entered they noticed that the caves were very huge and very high. They also saw a few men climbed up bamboo poles which reached the roof of the cave. They scraped off the bird’s nests from the roof of the cave and the men down collected the nests and put them into sacks. Those men collected these nests to sell them to the Chinese.
In the afternoon, they collected their stuff, said goodbye and went back home. It was an exciting trip and I think it’s the kind of trip that cannot be forgotten.

Narrative essay

A Journey from Brunei to Sarawak
Thirty years ago, Hedley, with his wife Mary and daughter Katie, visited

the Niah Caves in Sarawak, East Malaysia. They travelled by car ,
large ferry , and small boat .

They set off from Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei and
drove to the border with Sarawak. They crossed two large rivers by
ferry, stopped in Miri for lunch and then continued to Niah, a small river
township. Then they hired a small boat and sailed upriver to a
government rest house, where they stayed the night. They ate dinner with
the small group of scientists who lived in the rest house and shared the cold
drinks they had brought with them in a cool box. It was a remote
spot, deep in the jungle. They slept in bunk beds with no airconditioning. It
was a novel experience.

The next morning, they walked along a jungle path for half an hour until
they reached the Niah caves. Inside the caves, which were very high,

they saw men who climbed up tall bamboo poles. The men had
lights on their hats because it was so dark. At the top of the poles they
scraped off birds’ nests from the roof of the caves. The nests were collected
by their mates on the cave floor and put into sacks. These nests were
later sold and made into bird’s nest soup, a Chinese delicacy.

That afternoon, they said goodbye to their new-found friends in the rest
house and departed on the long drive home. It was quite an adventure and
one they would never forget.
